Monthly AARP 3880 Casa Linda Dallas meeting. FREE! Open to ALL. This month's speaker is Julie Offord Owen and Mary Kay Jackman, East Texans to the core, have the recipe for fun after retirement: Murder. Actually, it's writing a series of murder mysteries under the name, JoBeth Jones. The two friends have been writing mystery adventures for about a half dozen years. They didn't start out with plans to write a series, but their strong characters, Carolann and E.J., had other ideas. So far, these characters and their cohorts have led Julie and Mary Kay on meanders through some of the darkest places in East Texas, (where characters and co-authors hale from), through Memphis during an Elvis Appreciators Convention, and through the main and mean streets of Dallas. Coming up: meandering back to New Orleans, northeast New Mexico, Savannah, and the Florida Keys. These ladies will meander to our chapter meeting on Monday, April 6, and share their stories: how they met, how they write together, how their characters and plots take shape, and—most of all—how to have fun and start a new career in your 60s and 70s. (Truth be told, one of them just turned 80). Cookies & coffee at break before speaker. There will be a lunch group, after the meeting. Fellowship, Community Service, Entertainment, Opportunities to Join & Serve.
